FIFA needs to modernize the game!

FIFA needs to modernize the game, once and for all! It’s getting ridiculous. Here is a list of things that need to be done:

Video Referees and Instant Replay for Refs
Offside rule should not apply when players are in the attacking half of the field.
Enlarge the goal area by a few inches.
Add Goal Tending Rule like in Basketball. If you block a clear goal with your hand (apart from the keeper of course) it is counted as an automatic goal.

Togo Football Team Tragedy Reviewed

Gunmen have fired on a bus carrying Togo’s football team to the Africa Cup of Nations in Angola, wounding players and reportedly killing the driver.

FIFA, no reactions? Well, you once again proved that African Blood ain’t worth the trouble in your eyes!

Did France cheat its way to the WC?

The French are in and the Irish are out.
However, was it in the spirit of Fairplay that FIFA so proudly promotes through the voice of its president?

did France in the person of Thierry Henry cheat its way into the World Cup in South Africa next year? The answer to this question depends directly to the answer of another question: is touching the ball with your hand (in the intent of redirecting it or controlling it) allowed in Football (Soccer)? The answer is NO! Therefore, yes, the match should have been replayed!

Thierry Henry himself said: “Of course, the fairest solution would be to replay the game but it is not in my control. There is little more I can do apart from admit the ball had contact with my hand leading up to our equalizing goal and I feel very sorry for the Irish.”

In all sports today, we actively use cameras to make sure the game is fair and square. Why not in soccer? Why is cheating still part of this beautiful game?

FIFA, when will you evolve?

Sepp, are you really promoting Fairplay here?
Once again, you proved to the whole World how incompetent you are!

On Thursday November 12th, the Algerian Team bus was attacked (stoned with rocks and bricks) by Egyptian fans on its way from the Cairo Airport to the Hotel. 4 players were injured, 1 of them was sent to the hospital. The Egyptian Authorities failed to insure the safety of the Away Team on a 1km distance from the Cairo International Airport to the Hotel. The FIFA maintained the game and imposed no sanctions.

Fifa’s Answer to these attacks:

- No Sanctions for the Egyptian Federation (Despite the fact that FIFA already sent them a Warning a week before the match to ask them to tighten their security measures)

- No Postponement of the Game (Despite the fact that the players had stitches in their head that needed time to heal!)

- No Relocation of the Game (Despite the fact that Egyptian fans were not only attacking players but also attacked supporters outside the Cairo Stadium: http://www.lequipe.fr/Football/breves2009/20091114_235843_bus-caillasse-au-caire.html )

- 1 Written Warning to the Egyptian Federation asking them to tighten their security measures again (basically a repeat of the previous Warning!)

Questions for FIFA:

Is that what you call “Fairplay”? What Message are you sending to the World?
What will Hooligans all over the World deduct from this lack of firm sanctions? It is OKAY to attack and injure the players and supporters of the Adverse Team, because the Worst that can happen is a Written Warning from the FIFA. No Big Deal!

Fifa, why have you Breached the policies of your OWN Safety Regulations (See Articles #10 and #28 http://fr.fifa.com/mm/51/53/98/fifa_safety_regulations_fr.pdf)

Sepp, would your institution have reacted the same way if it was a European team who was attacked? (Is African Blood worth less than European Blood?)
